Homemade Pizza! Your pizza night just got more delicious

Homemade pizza is a delicious and fun way to cook dinner with family...or, just by yourself!

"Every pizza is a personal pizza if you try hard enough & believe in yourself"

Cooking Tips:

1. For Thin Crust Pizza: Simply split the dough in half once you have finished making the dough and store the other half in freezer-safe Ziplock bag for next time!

2. You can buy premade sauce if you prefer but homemade pizza sauce makes a HUGE difference.

3. Bread Flour is essential! You can find it at most grocery stores.

4. Once the pizza is done baking, it will need to cool down for 5-10 minutes before cutting and serving.

Pizza Crust Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Warm Water

  • 1 Package, Active Dry Yeast

  • 2 ½ Cups Bread Flour

  • 2 Tbsp Olive Oil

  • 1 Tbsp Italian Seasoning

  • 1 Tsp White Sugar

  • 1 Tsp Garlic Powder

  • 1 Tsp Onion Powder

  • 1 Tsp Salt

Pizza Sauce Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp Olive Oil

  • 2 Garlic Cloves, crushed or finely chopped (you may use minced garlic as well)

  • 1 (28oz) Can of Whole Plum Tomatoes

  • 1 Cup freshly chopped Basil Leaves

  • 2 Tbsp Italian Seasoning

  • 1 Tbsp White Sugar

  • 1 Tsp Onion Powder

  • 1 Tsp Salt

  • 1 Tsp Black Pepper

Pizza Topping Ingredients:

  • 1 (8oz) Bag of Mozzarella Cheese, shredded

  • ½ lbs. of Ground Italian Sausage; cooked according to package instructions

  • 1 Package Pepperoni, thinly sliced (optional)

  • ½ Sweet Yellow Onion, chopped (optional)

  • 1 Green Bell Pepper, chopped or sliced (optional)

Directions

Prepare Pizza Sauce (Skip if using premade)

  1. Pour olive oil into a sauce pan over a medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the garlic and sauté until softened but not brown (about 1 minute)

  2. Pour the can of tomatoes into the pan and use a masher to crush them down.

  3. Add all the remaining ingredients and stir until well-combined.

  4. Turn heat to low and allow the sauce to simmer for at least 30 minutes. (I use this time to prepare my pizza dough)

  5. Note: Any leftover sauce may be stored in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 5-7 days.

Prepare Pizza

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F and if needed, lightly grease your pizza pan.

  2. Place warm water in a bowl; add yeast and sugar. Mix and let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.

  3. Add Flour, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Italian Seasoning, Oil, and Salt to the yeast mixture; mix until you form a well-combined dough. You may do this with a wooden spoon or using a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook. Let the dough rest for 5 minutes.

  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat or roll with a floured rolling pin to the desired size (about 12 - 18 inches in diameter. Transfer to the prepared pizza pan.

  5. Next, generously spread pizza sauce over pizza dough followed by your veggie and/or meat toppings. Lastly, sprinkle your shredded cheese evenly over the toppings.

  6. Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, 14 to 18 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
